SEASON SIX LAUNCH!

Cheer Families,
We are so excited to release our SEASON SIX INFO PACKET! Please take the time to read through the entire packet before the informational meeting on 5/13, 6-8 pm, and come with questions! All families registered for tryouts or sideline will receive the zoom link to the meeting.

NOTE: Watch out for our Season Six launch video, made by Sophia Ferrer's brother Max, which will be out in the next day or two!

It's important to note that all current classes will end on May 26th, and parade teams end on July 4th. For your athlete to continue, you must register for competition team tryouts in May or sideline cheer. During our normal season (June - January), our add-on classes like stunt and tumbling are only available to athletes on a comp or sideline team. However, we offer team options for all levels, ages 5-22!

DIVISION SELECTION:  The first step is choosing your athlete's division. If they would like to do competition cheer, local or travel, they need to attend tryouts in May. If you aren't sure if they are ready for travel yet, register for local. We will evaluate ALL athletes for a local, travel, and sideline team during tryouts and include options on their placement packet and you can decide then. If you think your athlete would do better with a lower commitment, or they are new to cheer, we are bringing back our sideline division this year! Register online now for sideline teams. If you don't know where to start, the following is recommended experience:
  • SIDELINE: No experience necessary
  • LOCAL COMP: One season to one year of cheer, dance, or gymnastics classes
  • TRAVEL COMP: One year of competitive cheer, dance or gymnastics

TRYOUT DETAILS:  You must attend the full time set aside for tryouts. It is not a drop-in window. The first day, athletes learn and perform a dance and cheer, and are evaluated for jumps and tumbling. The second day, we teach basic stunting and athletes are evaluated in stunt groups. Material will be available ahead of time for our 14U and 18U groups (watch our instagram). Some of our strongest athletes will be invited to the second day (or for 18U, second half) of tryouts for next age group up. Keep this day open just in case! TRYOUT TIMES

If your athlete cannot make either tryout day, you can register for 0U tryouts and will be contacted about sending in a video.

If you are interested in sideline, register online. No need to attend tryouts.

SIDELINE DETAILS:  If you previously signed up for sideline cheer, please take a look at the details surrounding this season either in the packet or online. Since we released our preliminary plans a lot has changed in youth sports, including the folding of many of the programs we support. Therefore, we are launching the all *NEW* Everett Cheer Club which will perform for monthly events like the AquaSox, Everett Royals, and EvCC college games with our Everett Show Team. Not only will these events be much more fun to participate in and watch, but it will allow our sideline program to be much more sustainable. These sideline teams will perform in the stands, on the field/court, and on the sidelines, depending on the event. If you didn't get a chance to see the Everett Royals play this weekend, it was quite a game! We cannot wait to support our community in a whole new way!

NEW UNIFORMS:  We are very excited to officially release the artwork for our new competition uniforms for Season Six (see photos below or to the right)! (Athletes of any gender can select either top or bottom)

LEADERSHIP:  If this past year taught us anything, it's that we cannot do all the things in this life alone. I am thrilled to officially announce our new CEC Leadership team, a group of five amazing women who will have their hands and eyes on all things in the gym across our three divisions this year, helping to develop our coaching staff, address parent concerns, and build up our athletes. Here is a quick breakdown of each member and their new roles in the organization:
  • Carrie, Gym Director: Travel division, stunting lead, innovation

  • Courtni, Assistant Director: Local division, fit & flex lead, staff development

WEBSITE UPDATE:  There are a couple things that I have removed from our website and are now only accessible through the Weekly Update for active families. All of these have been moved to a button under the calendar on the Weekly Update.
1) Forms & Links: Forms & Links is now Forms & Flyers. Here is where you can find copies of every PDF we send out or flyer we send home.
2) Camp & Competition Calendars: A draft of the 22-23 competition calendar is posted. Click the button that says Comp Schedule. We will update this as info is released. Teams Choreo Week 1 & 2 schedules are in the last page of the info packet.
3) Add-On Classes: The schedule is also a draft, but you can begin thinking about what classes your athlete would like to enroll in and which times may work for your family. We will release the full schedule after tryouts around 5/22. Always go off of your team FIRST, and then add-on classes!

Let me know if you have any questions,
