BATTLE OF THE BOWS: THIS WEEKEND!Carrie Anderson, Gym Director
CEC's Individual Competition, "Battle of the Bows," is HERE! We are excited to have everyone compete this weekend: Saturday February 20th and 21st. A few important notices for everyone attending: OPEN STUNT FRIDAY 7-9: If your athlete is competing in stunt on Saturday or Sunday, they may come to the optional stunt group practice on Friday to work with their group. They can ONLY come if their entire group is coming. This is not needed for athletes under 9, but they can attend if they'd like! We will have coaches helping them clean up foundational stunts to prepare for the weekend. SCHEDULE: I have created a MASTER SCHEDULE for the weekend. You can VIEW it here. Please check the master for your athletes competition times to make sure they line up with your records. Remember: athletes can stay at the gym for 10-30 minute breaks, but must be picked up for longer breaks (if they are not competing in a section) due to COVID capacity rules. Make sure you know your drop off and pick up times BEFORE this weekend, as we will likely not be taking calls/answering emails during the competition. USE THE FIND FEATURE TO FIND ALL YOUR ATHLETE'S TIMES. SPLIT/CONSECUTIVE: Under the master schedule you will see either "split" or "consecutive" next to your athlete's name. SPLIT means they are on two different days OR they are on one day but have a window where they aren't competing and need to be picked up. CONSECUTIVE means they have just one drop off and one pick up time and are competing the whole time they are here. ... continued down below |
This week Queens did their first full-out; also the very first full-out ever at the gym! This is when a team does their entire routine start to finish. They get a silver sticker each time, and a red sticker for each "hit" meaning they didn't make any major mistakes. More stickers coming soon!

SPECTATORS: No spectators are allowed, however, we will live streaming each competition and award ceremony on our INSTAGRAM Story! Create an account now if you do not have one so you can watch your athlete in action. There is a ceremony for EACH category your athlete is competing in (jumps and tumbling are combined) and ceremony times are posted next to your athlete's name in the master schedule above. SNACKS/LUNCH: Please pack plenty of snacks or a snack and lunch for your athlete if they are staying for more than one category. There will be some breaks including a 30 minute "lunch" from 1:00-1:30 where the athletes can rest and eat. No sharing food. As always, pack a water bottle. ARRIVAL/PICK UP: Do not drop your athlete off more than 10 minutes before their scheduled time. There is warm up time built into the schedule. Please be ready to pick up within 10 minutes of the competition end time, as our schedules are a best estimate. COVID makes drop off and pick up times very important. Thank you for your understanding! ATTIRE: Your athlete should wear their full uniform for this competition! If they'd rather not wear their uniform, they can wear Cascade colors or practice gear. Hair must be pulled up away from their face, but they can do any hair style they'd like: French braids, high pony, low pony, curled or teased, etc. SWAG: Swag that was ordered will be available for pick up at check in. There are a few extra hoodies/tees and lots of stickers that will be in the ProShop on starting Monday. Message me this week if you have any questions. We will be very busy Saturday/Sunday and will likely not be able to take calls! Carrie Anderson, 425-466-0810 |
