Carrie Anderson, Gym Director
For the safety of our athletes and families, we have decided to participate in exclusively virtual competitions this season (Nationals for Queens is still under debate). The information about live competitions in Washington is still on hold, and it could be months before we hear anything. Instead of waiting to make plans until that info comes out (which might end up being a cancelled season) we researched and found a brand that we trust to host fun and exciting virtual competitions for our athletes.
This is how virtual comp days will work: We will do all our recording on a Saturday. Two teams will be in the gym at a time, so each team has athletes on the mat cheering them on (this is a big part of cheer competitions). They will have the same "sister" team all season. We will have time for finalizing hair/make up, give them a chance to run through "warm ups" and "full outs", having some fun time to socialize, and then they will perform their routine LIVE for the video. One shot, just like at a regular competition. It's not going to be the same, but we are doing everything we can to bring the fun comp day experiences into the gym.
Then, the following Sunday (8 days later) sister teams will come to the gym for a watch party. We will have snacks and dance parties, and watch all the other competitors and the awards ceremony. Each watch party will have a separate theme, starting with popcorn and jammies for the first one. More details will come out over the coming weeks, but all competition days are being loaded into TeamSnap right now so you can block out this time. NOTE: If parents don't feel comfortable with athletes attending watch parties, they can opt out and watch from home.
Featured Athlete of the Month: Olivia never fails to show up and do everything I need her to do and beyond. She is extremely coachable, a great listener and takes criticism really well, we love having her on the team and I couldn't imagine Tiaras without her!

FIRST COMp IS FEB 20TH & 21st!
We are excited to announce we will be hosting our first-annual, individual cheer competition, Battle of the Bows, RIGHT HERE at Cascade Elite Cheer! (NOTE: This is a different format then the team competitions mentioned above). Athletes will compete skills like jumps, tumbling, and stunts, as well as in categories like cheer or dance. ALL athletes will enter at least one category and every athlete will be recognized for their efforts and achievements at the competition. There will be participant and winner ribbons awarded as well as 35 first place trophies/medals. The coaches & staff are even joining in on the fun!
Next week, coaches will hand out registration forms and go over the categories with their teams, helping athlete's decide which categories to choose. Please encourage your athlete to participate, even if they are nervous. This is not only a great confidence builder, but it's going to be a lot of fun!
NOTE: This will be an in-person competition spread out over 2 days. To keep our groups small, only the first 30 athletes signed up for each section will be accepted (for stunt sections this means 6 stunt groups). No spectators, however, all awards and competitions will be posted on Instagram live. More info, including competition rules and categories, will be sent home with your athlete in a packet next week.
