Competitions & watch partiesCarrie Anderson, Gym Director
We had so much fun at our Showcase last weekend, and all the athlete's did a fantastic job! They loved having a sister team in the gym to cheer them on, and every team had their best run of the week during filming. Athletes also got to learn and participate in competition day rituals and got to watch their sister team practice and perform. We wish you all would have been able to join us live and look forward to next year when you can watch your athlete in person. Part of the reason for Showcase was to run our competition day routines to prepare for a smooth comp day on March 20th and April 17th. These two days will run nearly identical to last weekend, so ask now if you have any questions. We will be streaming performances on Instagram Live and sending out recorded videos just like we did for Showcase. Then, at the optional Watch Parties, athletes will gather to watch their performance, other performances in their category, and a live awards ceremony with their teammates and sister team at the gym! The first watch party is March 28th and the theme is Pj's and Popcorn (check TeamSnap for your teams times). Have your athlete dress in their favorite pj's and bring a pillow and blanket. If you'd like to donate boxes or bags of microwave popcorn, we are accepting those all the way up to the watch party. If you'd rather keep your athlete home for the watch parties, check out Spirit Brands Facebook page for the live video. Let me know if you have any questions! Thank you all for an awesome weekend! |
Congratulations to Crowns who "HIT ZERO" at Showcase! This means that all their stunts hit and there were no major falls or deductions. Crowns also learned their pyramid this week and they are very excited to show it off on March 20th!

GYM HOUSEKEEPING!MAKE UP CLASSES NOW AVAILABLE: Many of you have asked if there are make ups for missed classes due to absences or illness, and in the past we have now. NOW we are offering Saturday make ups for all classes. If your athlete cannot make it to their regular class they can attend Saturday instead. No notification needed, just show up! Note: March 20th and April 17th are comp days so the Saturday class is moved to Sunday March 21st and April 18th. Saturday Make Up Class Times:
Tumble 1A: 11:00 am Tumble 1B and Bridge: 1:00 pm Stunt & Flight: 12:00 pm SLIDES & SWEATS: Have your athlete bring easy to slip on shoes to change into and out of for practice. It makes transitions so much easier if they can slip shoes on and off! Also, make sure they bring a pair of sweats/warm ups to wear over their shorts. It's not safe for warm muscles to go out directly into the cold. WATER BOTTLES: Have your athlete bring a full water bottle to every practice! We are going through a lot of cups and water the past 2-3 weeks. LOST & FOUND DONATIONS: Have your athlete check the lost and found, including the water bottles left at the front desk (there are a lot). We are donating the lost and found items next Friday March 19th! FULL UNIFORM: We had such a wonderful time at Showcase and the athletes all did so well! We had lots of questions on what is a proper "full uniform" so I wanted to send out clarification for competition days. Hair/Make Up/Bow: Athletes need to have hair fully up in a high pony tail with their bow facing forward, including wispy's and flyaways. Some coaches have other specific hair requirements for comps light curled pony's or braids, so watch for specific messaging around comp week. Light make-up (no colored eye shadow) can be worn for athletes 10 and up. Sports Bra: Athletes should wear a dance bra with clear straps if they are in our white uniforms, a black cross back sports bra if they are in our black uniforms, and their white Nike bra if they are on Everett. Younger athletes do not need a sports bra. Crossovers should wear a dance bra with clear straps. Shrug/Sleeves: This year's sleeves for Majesties/Crowns/Princesses are required on performance days and goes over the top with the clip in back. Shoes/Socks: Do a quick wipe down of your athletes shoes before comp day and have them wear white no-show (or low ankle) socks. No black socks. Tops: White uniform tops should be tucked into the skirt and the black tops go over the shorts. Masks: Solid white or solid black masks required for performances (white for full year, black for half year). We have extra paper masks in their colors at the front desk if they cannot find their uniform mask! |
