NATIONALS SCHOLARSHIP FUND

about the scholarship fund

Our CEC Lemonade stand is a year-round fundraiser that funds our Nationals Scholarship Fund. CEC supplies the staff salary to run the stand, and all the profits go towards covering travel expenses for some of our athletes to attend Nationals in Disneyland! In 2021, the lemonade stand was only open for half of the year, so this year I am also matching the profits. We have 3 spots open for full scholarships, or 6 open for half scholarships (or some other equal combination) for the 22-23 season (2023 trip).

The Nationals Scholarship Fund is intended for athletes who wouldn't be able to attend Nationals without it. We ask that you only apply for the scholarship if you would otherwise not be able to have your athlete travel this, or any other year. The goal is to allow these athletes a single opportunity to attend Nationals/Disneyland towards the end of their cheerleading days.

FULL VERSUS PARTIAL SCHOALRSHIP

To understand your total financial commitment for the season, review the Team Costs & Travel Costs as well as the info below.
FULL SCHOLARSHIP (granted $2370): A full Nationals Fund Scholarship covers the entire cost of traveling to California for Nationals, including incidentals and Disney passes. Anyone accepting the full scholarship is required to:
1) Pay all standard tuition, fees, and gear, less eligible Discounts and Scholarships.
2) Pay the travel account fee when accepting the scholarship and registering for tryouts ($200).
3) Pay or fundraise for the travel team competition fees ($490). This is divided over 5-6 payments.
4) Pay or fundraise for the Portland Field Trip ($475) OR opt out of the Field Trip option and travel with family. If you select the field trip option, it can be divided over 5-6 payments. Note: Due to the distance and length of this competition, it is possible to drive down and back in the same day.

PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIP (granted $1423): A partial Nationals Fund Scholarship covers 50% of BOTH the Portland Trip and Nationals. Anyone accepting the partial scholarship is required to:
1) Pay all standard tuition, fees, and gear, less eligible Discounts and Scholarships.
2) Pay the travel account fee when accepting the scholarship ($200).
3) Pay or fundraise for the travel team competition fees ($490). This is divided over 5-6 payments.

**If the athlete receives a partial scholarship, they may choose to opt out of the Field Trip option for Portland and travel with family. This would reduce the scholarship to apply to Nationals only ($1185).
A typical travel team athlete pays a total $3535 of in addition to their monthly tuition. This is divided into 6 payments of $590 / month.

A FULL SCHOLARSHIP ATHLETE CAN EXPECT TO PAY A TOTAL OF $1165 in addition to their monthly tuition (including the Portland Field Trip). This is divided into 6 payments of $233 / month.

A PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIP ATHLETE CAN EXPECT TO PAY A TOTAL OF $2112 in addition to their monthly tuition (including the Portland Field Trip). This is divided into 6 payments of $422 / month.

APPLICATION

DO NOT rush your application. It's important to understand the full commitment you are making by applying for this scholarship, including your own financial responsibility. The first half is to be completed by the parent, and the second half by the athlete.

NOTE: Selections are made by a committee of staff and coaches and will be communicated on or before May 1st. We will not announce scholarship winners with their consent. Applications will only be considered if all documentation is submitted on or before the deadline of February 28th.

We ask that you apply for the Nationals Fund Scholarship only if you have exhausted all other options to pay yourself, including researching our fundraisers. To be on the priority list, you must waive your right to participate on a travel team for the 2022-2023 season if you are not selected for the scholarship. You can opt to retain this right, but by doing so acknowledge that this will be factored into the committee's decision making.
Note: By submitting this application, you decision is binding. You may change your selection anytime before the application deadline on February 28th in writing to carrie@cascadeelitecheer.org.
